Research Group Digital Sociology and Artificial Intelligence
Coordinators: Leopoldo Waizbort and Veridiana Domingos Cordeiro

The "Digital Sociology and Artificial Intelligence" Research Group was created in July 2019 by a group of researchers from the University of São Paulo (Brazil) interested in studying digital phenomena in contemporary societies. The group is registered in the national directory of CNPq (National Council for Technological and Scientific Development). The group discusses studies regarding social transformations that have come about due to the digitization of the contemporary world. The "digital" is not an isolated realm anymore but rather a phenomenon intertwined with many other phenomena of social life. In this regard, while we share common interests in digital and artificial intelligence, we also research different subfields where both phenomena manifest, such as public policy, violence, culture, and science.
We offer courses on Digital Sociology and Artificial Intelligence based on papers and book debates to encourage reflections on these topics within Sociology.
